In January 2024 I and 71 travel tribe members went on a trip sponsored by Busboys and Poets based in Washington, DC to Havana, Cuba. Our trip was packed full of new adventures each day and the Sagua Services Travel team prepared an amazing itinerary. Memorable highlights from our trip was from the Havana Jazz Festival featuring Cuban jazz pianist Roberto Fonseca who performed on closing night with ballerina Viengsay Valdés. We visited the Ballet Nacional de Cuba and met the director, Dani Hernandez while watching his talented and gifted dancers perform. We walked the streets of Havana observing the beautiful architecture and its beautiful people. On rooftops and in private gardens we dined and danced together while feeling the rhythm and beat of live Cuban music. Our trip culminated in a dedication and unveiling of a Langston Hughes bust donated by Andy Shallal, founder & owner of Busboys and Poets. World renowned author and activist Alice Walker joined us during the trip to commemorate the historic dedication. There is so much beauty and resilience in Cuba. “It was my first time going to Cuba and although I was excited to be there I did not know how the experience was going to be. The moment we stepped in we felt so welcome by everyone, specially by Ingrid and her team from @saguaservicestravel. They organized every part of our trip. Transportation was reliable, comfortable and clean. Our tour guide Anay, was super friendly, patient and knowledgeable of her country and culture. They planned every meal for us and we had the coziest and submerged Cuban experience during every meal with live bands and delicious food. “Everything you did for us was exceptional. Can I tell you the things that made the trip so exceptional…..

Transportation-the buses were very nice and comfortable. And the drivers always helped us down the steps. I don’t know how they negotiated some of the streets but they did. And plenty of water!!!

Restaurants-such a variety of environments. With wonderful ambiance and good food. Plus music. And delicious mojitos!

Hotel-excellent choice. Very comfortable and a beautiful space with lots of art.

Itinerary-We got to see so many things that couldn’t be usually done on other trips. I felt like I gained so much insight about Cuba because of the places and people we were exposed to. There were many fun events. A wonderful itinerary!

Coordination- I was so impressed with how you coordinated seventy people to and from events.

The staff-your staff was always kind and patient with us. Even when we were running late. Or asking questions. And always a smile for us!
